Kayaking - Franz Josef Glacier
Franz Josef Glacier, South Island, New Zealand

Anyone who goes to New Zealand and doesn't go to Franz Josef Glacier or Fox Glacier is, for lack of a tactful way to put this, an idiot.  These are two of four glaciers in the world which terminate in a rain forest.  Tariq and I went kayaking with Ferg's Kayaks for a morning of paddling before an afternoon of heli-hiking on the glacier.  That water was mirror-like, and the plant life of the rain forest made me feel like I was paddling through the bayou.  We even took a short hitch up a frozen river.

All photos on this page are by Ferg.  I highly recommend his to anyone who is going to be in the area.

Whoa!  Which way is up???  I'm lost in TarverLand!
